To roast Mars and Hersheys' nuts

and that was the headline i used when writing my story today on Olam International, which bought over US-based Universal Blanchers for US$77 mln. =P

there are days when your colleagues seem to zone out and act with diminished intelligence.

today was one of those days.

incident 1:

i was done writing a story on how Ezra Holdings (shipping company) had a subsidiary listing on the Oslo bourse.

fifteen minutes later, colleague A asks out loud "where is Oslo?"

me: Oslo is in...

The Chief Executive Blog

three years ago, the colleague and i were trying to convince the boss of the usefulness of a company blog.

he resisted it, even as we gave a thousand and one reasons on how the blog could benefit our direct customers and even bring us more clients.

unperturbed, the colleague and i started one ourselves, writing about what happens at the press conferences we attend and how management of the various companies treat us.

it was a hit, resulting in several tip-offs of suspicious activities...

Dynamic positioning

no, this isn't some kinky post on a new sex position.

it's my piece of trivia for the day...something i got while researching an article i wrote.

what's dynamic positioning?

it's how ships stay in one positioning by using its thrusts and propellers in parts of the ocean too deep for anchoring.

now come to think of it, some words in that sentence do leave room for imagination. =P

it's amazing how much information you can get while researching stories you're writing.

i was...

Drivel about Salsa

my journey through salsa started with sheer impetus.

it's been laced with plenty of unhappiness, but my snuffy hubby turned up somewhere along the way, so things weren't all that bad. =P

i started my basics with jitterbugs swingapore more than two years back, did an intermediate with attitude dance studio and went on to ladc for the rest of my salsa lessons.

sometime in the middle, i learnt rueda casino with j&j and later entertained the idea of joining a performance team; either salsa...

I Feel Like A Little Girl

It's been a while since I've blogged on my own.

I now own w-e-d-d-i-n-g.blogspot.com with my Snuffy Hubby-to-be and we'll be getting hitched at (of all places of convention) the old parliament house.

i often rave about defying convention because they are simply a way of doing things, not constitution.

so having me and eric (both unconventional in our own forms) tying the knot in the epitome of law-making is irony at its best. =P

perhaps it's time to sit down for a minute and take a...
